New app offered for HHS grads

College transition partnership set

HOPE – Senior students at Hope High School will have the opportunity to keep ahead of important college transition information through a new partnership between the Hope Public School District and the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana.

HPSD Superintendent Dr. Bobby Hart announced Wednesday that the school district will join the Purtle Advising Center at UAHT to provide the “Remind” service for senior students.

“We know that, often, students experience a ‘meltdown,’ or breakdown in communications with their college after high school graduation,” Dr. Hart said. “We are grateful that UAHT has worked with us to help build a stronger bridge for our students from Hope High School to UAHT.”

Beginning this summer, graduating seniors from the Class of 2019 may join Remind to receive free messaging to their cell phone concerning important college transition news, upcoming key dates and updates on other transition summer information.

Students may choose either text message or smartphone notifications.

After texting a preset class code to the Remind phone number and replying to the resulting text messages, students will then receive notifications by text message.

In order to receive smartphone notifications, students may download the Remind application on their Android or iOS device at the rmd.me/a link, then open the application and create an account.

Personal contact information remains private, but all messages are recorded in communication logs which students may access and download.

Questions about the service at UAHT may be directed to the Purtle Advising Center at 870-722-8124.
