HOPE – The 60th edition of the Hope High School FFA Rodeo opens Thursday night at Hope Fair Park Coliseum Arena with Old Timer’s Night.
The all-student production will have performances through Saturday at 7 p.m. each evening. Tickets are $5 each.
The annual rodeo, organized and performed by FFA members and Hope Public Schools students, is the largest and longest-running student rodeo in Arkansas. Students competing must attend school in the Hope Public Schools.
Old Timer’s Night is for former FFA members and HHS alumni from within the previous five years. Old Timer’s events include chute dogging, team roping, calf roping, wild steer tagging and barrel racing, which is open to male and female contestants.
Belt buckles are awarded to winners in most events and to an all-around cowboy and all-around cowgirl. Funds raised from the rodeo finance FFA chapter competition activities, as well as provide scholarships to HHS students, according to FFA sponsor Christina Smith.
A Junior Queen competition will be included, again, this year, with the winner named Saturday evening.
