HOPE – Hope High School will introduce a new counselor to its campus this academic year, among changes in faculty and staff across the Hope Public School District.
Varonica Kennedy is a graduate of Liberty-Eylau High School, and South Arkansas Community College, in El Dorado, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree in education. Kennedy completed her Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Arkansas – Monticello, and began teaching in the El Dorado School District.
She taught for six years in first and third grade classes, as well as serving as an activity teacher, technology specialist and reading specialist before becoming a school counselor. Kennedy completed a Master of Education degree at Southern Arkansas University, in Magnolia, before moving to the Texarkana Independent School District in 2017, where she became a counselor in the Theron Jones Early Literacy Center.
Kennedy returned to SAU in June to begin graduate studies in education administration/building supervision.
“I am looking forward to my time here with the Hope School District,” she said. “I hope that I am able to assist the students throughout their high school experience effectively as well as be an asset to the staff.”
Kennedy is also an active member of the Junior League of Texarkana.
Faculty and staff changes for the new academic year in the Hope Public Schools District include:
Yerger Middle School – Michael Herron, assistant band director; Latonya Bradley, literacy instructional facilitator and Nina Jackson, math instructional facilitator; and Kayetta Wilson and Alison Bradley, paraprofessionals.
