Penny drive class winners named

HOPE – Students at the Hope Academy of Public Service were six pounds short of 200 pounds of pennies collected for the 2017 Hempstead County United Way campaign.

Mallory Cain’s class won the campus-wide competition with 56 pounds of pennies collected. Tony Hooker’s class placed second with 47 pounds. Both classes will be rewarded with popcorn and soda parties provided by the local United Way.\r\n

The campus collected 194.5 pounds of pennies for the campaign, as follows: Cain, 56 pounds; Hooker, 47 pounds; Hendrix, 26 pounds; Rogers, 20 pounds; Shepard, 15 pounds; Northcross, 15 pounds; Tackett, 15 pounds; and, Hawthorne, ½ pound.\r\n
