End of year activities set

HOPE – The final week of classes in the Hope Public School District for the 2016-2017 school year will see a number of activities, prior to the almost immediate start of summer school classes.\r\n

The academic year will end at the dismissal of classes on Friday, and summer school classes for grades seven through 12 will begin the day after the Memorial Day holiday on May 30.\r\n

\r\n

Summer classes for Hope High School and Yerger Middle School will be conducted on the HHS campus this year from May 30-July 7, with classes scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.\r\n

\r\n

Clinton Primary School and Beryl Henry Elementary School will conduct summer classes on their individual campuses from June 5-30, with classes set for 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.\r\n

\r\n

The final week of regular session classes this week will see a number of special ceremonies.\r\n

\r\n

Clinton Primary School will conduct graduation for kindergarten classes in two ceremonies tonight, the first at 5:30 p.m. and the second at 6:45 p.m. in the CPS cafeteria.\r\n

\r\n

Classes graduating at 5:30 p.m. include Askew, Bowden, Dillahunty, Galvan, Hare, Searcy and Walston. Classes graduating at 6:45 p.m. tonight include Creel, Harrison, Irvin, Robinson, Webb and Westfall.\r\n

\r\n

CPS will present academic awards Tuesday for third grade and fourth grade, Hall 6 at 8:45 a.m. and Hall 7 at 9:30 a.m.; and Hall 9 at 1:15 p.m. and Hall 10 at 2 p.m. \r\n

\r\n

Awards for first and second grade will be given Wednesday, with second grade Hall 5 at 8:45 a.m. and Hall 4 at 9:30 p.m. First grade awards for classes including Puryear, Young, Tarpley, Kennedy and Frohnappel will be presented at 1:15 p.m., and classes including Douglas, Cox, Strodered, Genty and White will be presented at 2 p.m. Wednesday.\r\n

Beryl Henry Elementary will observe graduation ceremonies for the sixth grade class Thursday at 9 a.m. in the BHE cafeteria.\r\n

\r\n

Academic awards ceremonies are set for Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Yerger Middle School and Friday at Hope Academy of Public Service at 11 a.m.\r\n

\r\n

HAPS will also conduct a parent orientation night for incoming students and parents on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Hempstead Hall on the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana campus.\r\n

\r\n

The annual retirement reception for all district employees will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the CPS cafeteria.\r\n
