HOPE - A Scholastic Book Fair will continue through Thursday evening in the library at Clinton Primary School. Books may be purchased during the fair from 3:30 to 7 p.m.

The CPS campus will also be the site for the kick-off of a Hope Public Schools Pre-kindergarten literacy initiative.

Visitors will be given the opportunity to sign up for the “Cat Cub Reading Club” community reading mentor program to read aloud to Pre-K students.

Business leaders and parents will also have an opportunity to learn about the Hope Book of the Month program, developed in partnership with Hempstead Hall on the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana campus. The program is oriented around feature films presented during Family Movie Night at UAHT, and will involve books at the Pre-K and kindergarten level that reflect themes and ideas from the films.

The program begins with the popular Star Wars film “The Force Awakens” on April 16, and will be followed by “Zootopia” on May 19.

Parents will also have an opportunity to learn about a summer reading program partnership between HPSD and the Hempstead County Library to promote library card usage and participation in a joint weekly summer reading event with transportation and lunch provided for children by the HPSD.
