BHE Students Build Literacy Cities

Beryl Henry Elementary School students of Mrs. Bennie Lard recently completed projects illustrating the parts of speech through the design and presentation of a city map or model of “Parts of Speech City.” The project required the students to incorporate all eight parts of speech into the design concept, whether in the naming of streets and buildings, or creating residential addresses, or the designation of businesses. The students were also required to write a persuasive summary outlining the qualities of their city with the intent to have Mrs. Lard agree to live there. Students were graded on complete usage of the parts of speech; model design; neatness; correct usage and spelling; and, persuasion.
