HAPS Application Period Announced

HOPE – The application period for new students to attend the Hope Academy of Public Service in the 2018-2019 academic year opens Jan. 8 and will extend through Feb. 2, 2018.\r\n

Students interested in attending HAPS must apply for admission either online or by mail. Online applications are available on the HAPS website in English and Spanish versions under the “documents” section. Mailed applications should be addressed to HAPS Office, Lisa Vaughn, Secretary, 601 W. Sixth St., Hope, Ar.,71801.\r\n

\r\n

Admission is for students in grades 5-9 in the Hope Public School District. Students living outside of the HPSD are subject to district transfer regulations.\r\n

\r\n

Students applying for admission to HAPS must demonstrate a record of advanced academic success; a record of excellent attendance; and a record of good conduct and work habits.\r\n

\r\n

The application process requires the completion of the official application, an Academic & Behavior Questionnaire, and an Entrance Assessment Packet.\r\n

\r\n

Entrance Assessment dates are set for Feb. 3, 10, 24, 2018. Applicants will be assigned a date to complete the Assessment Packet at the HAPS campus.\r\n

\r\n

Parents will be notified of their student(s) Entrance Assessment results and placement status on April 2, 2018.\r\n

\r\n

Highest ranking students will be offered enrollment. As additional openings develop during the summer preceding the 2018-2019 academic year, students will be enrolled in ranking order. Openings that develop during the first grading period of each academic year are filled.\r\n

\r\n

No new students will be admitted after the first grading period; however, students who enroll in the Hope Public School District after the HAPS application period will be allowed to submit an application to HAPS.\r\n

\r\n

The parent or guardian of a student is responsible for maintaining current mailing address and contact information for the student in the HAPS office. Deadlines missed due to incomplete or inaccurate contact information are not the responsibility of HAPS or the HPSD.\r\n

\r\n

Student and parent expectations for attendance at HAPS are outlined in the application package. Disputes concerning the acceptance of any student for the 2018-2019 academic year at HAPS will be referred to HPSD Superintendent Bobby Hart.\r\n
