Beryl Henry Elementary School fifth grade literacy students of Mrs. Bennie Lard were given a challenge to write a 20-page book during the final nine weeks of school. Lard said she allowed the students to pick their topics, and they worked on their story during class and free time. Lard commended the students for their work, noting that “As I often tell them, whether they know it or not, we all have a story to tell, real or imaginary.” The students were allowed to keep their books once completed. – Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools
