Culinary Art Gets Tasty

Students in Gloria Merrick’s Family and Consumer Sciences class at Hope High School were recently given a delicious demonstration of skills that can be learned and gainfully applied in the culinary arts. Students of the Texarkana College Culinary Arts Program, including HHS alumnus Nicholas Collins, prepared chicken alfredo and a chocolate nut brownie with meringue for the class that drew rave reviews. Chef Instructor Sheila Lynn directed Collins, Sylvia Ramirez, Martha Porter and Jayme Elliott in the preparations and presentation of the dishes. Students in the TC program can obtain a one-year certification of an Associate of Applied Science degree in culinary arts. – Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools\r\n
