HOPE – Parents and students will have an opportunity to meet teachers, complete required forms and learn more about the 2016-17 school year during open house activities Thursday.

All campuses of the Hope Public Schools will conduct open house from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Teachers, campus administrators and other personnel will be available to answer questions and resolve difficulties with student scheduling and other needs.

Parents enrolling students in kindergarten should provide a copy of a doctor’s physical exam record for their child and updated immunization records to Glenda Newton, RN, campus nurse at Clinton Primary School, or Hope District Nurse Renee Sells, RN.

Immunization compliance is required by the Arkansas State Board of Health. Specific immunizations required for school enrollment are found on the Hope Public Schools and campus websites.

The first day of classes for the new year will be Aug. 15.

Progress reports will be issued the weeks of Sept. 19, Nov. 14, Feb. 6 and April 24, with end of grading periods Oct. 14, Dec. 21, March 10, and May 26.

Report cards will be issued the weeks of Oct. 19, Jan. 5, March 13, and May 22.

The last day of classes for the year will be May 26, and Hope High School graduation ceremonies for 2016-17 will be conducted May 12.

Early dismissal days for staff meetings and teacher professional development are set Oct. 5, Nov. 9, Dec. 7, Feb. 1, March 1, April 5, and May 3, according to the official school calendar. Early dismissal times throughout the year will be either 2 p.m. or 2:15 p.m.

Any make-up days required by bad weather or other events will be taken after May 26, based upon the district calendar.

Holiday and non-class days on the calendar include Sept. 5, Labor Day; Oct. 20, Parent-Teacher Conference (3:30-7:30 p.m.); Oct. 21, no classes; Nov. 21-25, Thanksgiving; Dec. 22 – Jan. 4, Christmas holiday; Jan. 16, Dr. Martin Luther King Day; Feb. 17, winter break; Feb. 20, President’s Day; March 16, Parent-Teacher Conference (3:30-7:30 p.m.); March 17, no classes; March 20-24, spring break; and, April 14, Good Friday.
