BHE Totems Projects Judged

Beryl Henry Elementary School students recently completed a totem pole project designed to foster collaborative thinking and awareness of the meanings lent to the tradition. Judging was by a panel from the Southwest Arkansas Arts Council. First place went to Ms. Gorham’s fifth class for its “wisdom of the owl; boldness of the Eagle; cleverness of the Fox; and, positiveness of the turtle.” Second place was awarded to Ms. Robbins’ sixth grade class for “look before you leap” rabbit; “hold you head high” eagle; “patient” bobcat; and “panda of peace.” Third place was awarded to Ms. Collins’ homeroom for its eagle, hawk, owl, bear, monkey, and woodpecker totem.– Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools\r\n
