HAPS science trip proposed

Hope Academy of Public Service Science Teacher Carol Hendrix offered a slide presentation before the Hope Public School Board Monday night in a proposal for a seventh/eighth grade level summer science trip to Orlando, Fla. Hendrix said the trip is part of a package which schools across the country have used to enrich STEM curriculums. She said the five-day trip is closely scheduled and involves student work and collaboration on a college preparatory level. Hendrix said fundraising efforts at HAPS will be undertaken to offset some of the $2,300 per student cost of the trip. No board action was taken on the proposal, but Hope Superintendent Bobby Hart said district administration supports efforts to raise funds for the trip. – Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools\r\n
