Bamber named top cadet

HOPE – Hope High School senior and outgoing unit commander of the HHS Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Elizabeth Bamber has been named Cadet of the Year for the HHS unit.\r\n

\r\n

HHS Aerospace Science instructor MSgt. (Ret.) Arthur Mickles said the award will be presented May 9 at the annual AJROTC unit banquet.\r\n

\r\n

“Elizabeth is truly an outstanding leader for the Hope AFJROTC program and local community,” MSgt. Mickles said. “She is the epitome of what we expect of our leaders.”\r\n

\r\n

Bamber is the daughter of Anna Bamber, and will graduate with the HHS Class of 2018 in ceremonies at Hempstead Hall on the University of Arkansas-Hope campus on May 11. She intends to study veterinary technology at Arkansas State University-Beebe after graduation.\r\n

\r\n

“Elizabeth has served several months as our Corps commander, and she has proven to be a take charge and out front cadet,” Mickles said.\r\n

\r\n

He said Bamber has been the cadet in charge of a number of outstanding projects for the local unit.\r\n

\r\n

“She always displays a professional and positive attitude when interacting with and directing her peers,” Mickles said.\r\n

\r\n

Bamber was also named the John Cain Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Citizen of the Year on May 3.\r\n
