Hope High School Future Farmers of America chapter President Laith Zimmer brought the Hope Rotary Club up to date on the project show season for FFA members this year. Zimmer said an early date for the Hempstead County Fair, Aug. 29 – Sept. 2, has pushed livestock project management, with about five FFA members currently raising project animals. Students show projects at the Four States Fair the beginning Sept. 12, and at the Third District Fair in Hope beginning Sept. 26. He said most show projects this year are swine production projects. With some 45 active roll members and each student enrolled in agriculture studies at HHS involved, the chapter remains one of the most active in the state. – Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools
