HOPE – Meeting in called session Wednesday morning, the Hope Public Schools Board voted unanimously among members present to accept the bid of a Texarkana firm for the expansion of public parking at the Clinton Primary School campus.
Contech Contractors, Inc., of Texarkana, won the contract with a low bid of $250,630, including curb and gutter work, less deductible alternative one of $17,156. The bid includes a price of $25 per cubic yard of undercut preparation work. Total working time is set at 90 days.
Two other contractors submitted bids including, Diversified Construction, of El Dorado, at $378,000, less deductible alternative one of $26,000 and $21 per cubic yard of undercut over 45 days; and, Twobo, Inc., of Hope, at $295,470, less deductible alternative one of $20,580 and $23 per cubic foot of undercut over a 120 contract period.
HPS Superintendent Bobby Hart said the project has been in planning since February, and will relieve what has become a continuing problem at the CPS campus during open house and other public activities.
Hart said the district’s architectural engineers have worked with the firm.
The project will add approximately 200 new parking spaces on the northwest side of the existing building abutting a planned sidewalk adjacent to current parking. Ingress and egress will be through three entrance/exits from Lakeshore Drive, which will create six rows of parking spaces in three sections.
