HOPE – The Hope Public Schools has developed a parent survey for its Strive for Five student attendance initiative, which will be released through a link to the HPS’ district and campus websites.

Strive for Five is a district wide attendance initiative intended to help reduce student absences to five or fewer days per semester.

Current district policy, which reflects state law, requires notification of parents when students are absent five or more days in a grading period. Students who are absent 10 or more days are subject to referral to the juvenile courts system.

The Strive for Five initiative seeks to reduce absences to manageable levels by raising both student and parental awareness of the problem and its impact, along with community awareness of the problem as an economic factor for employers and employees.

The Strive for Five Parent Survey seeks to determine current attitudes of parents concerning the importance of their child’s attendance in school and other factors which may affect attendance.

The 10-question survey is free and is completely anonymous.
