HOPE – A Washington, D.C. based consumer news and research organization has issued a student loan guide for high school seniors to compare and research student loan options among the top providers in the country.

Consumer Affairs, established in 1998, offers the informational guide through its website at ConsumerAffairs.com for seniors to navigate options including federal and private loan sources, according to the site’s introduction.

Representative Kay Evans works with the organization to provide the guide to students.

“With the high cost of post-secondary school education, the majority of college students need to borrow money to help finance their educations,” Evans said. “The goal of our guide is to help students make the right consumer decisions for themselves.”

The guide reviews the Consumer Affairs top 10 best rated student loan programs, offering information on money-saving benefits, waiting periods, loan resellers, loan servicers, capitalization, and repayment options, as well as specific reviews of services and options for each highlighted loan provider.

Reviews include Educational Funding Co., the U. S. Department of Education, U. S. Direct Student Loan Program, Great Lakes Higher Education Corp., Wells Fargo, SallieMae Corp., Citibank, Navient, American Education Services, and Student Assistance Corp.

The online guide is free, Evans said.
