HOPE – The application period for the 2021-2022 academic year at the Hope Academy of Public Service has been extended.

HAPS Principal Dr. Carol Ann Duke said the application window will now close April 14 at 3 p.m.\r\n

\r\n

Applications are available at the HAPS office and at  www.hpsdistrict.org/o/academy-of-public-service online, Dr. Duke said.\r\n

\r\n

Students applying must demonstrate a record of advanced academic success, excellent attendance, good conduct and sound work habits. Currently enrolled HAPS students are NOT required to re-apply.\r\n

\r\n

“Students will be required to complete an application, an Academic and Behavior Questionnaire and submit prior school records,” Duke said. “All students will be required to complete an Entrance Assessment.”\r\n

\r\n

Marilyn Marks, HAPS counselor, will schedule an assessment visit and STAR Reading and Math assessments compliant with COVID-19 protocols.\r\n

\r\n

Students currently not enrolled in the Hope Public Schools will be scheduled for assessment on a case-by-case basis, Duke said. Students who rank highest in assessments will be offered enrollment based upon a standard rubric. A sample rubric is available with the enrollment packet online.\r\n

\r\n

Additional openings developed during the summer months will be filled in rank order, and no new students will be admitted after the first 10 days of the 2021-2022 school year, Duke said.\r\n

\r\n

Students who enroll in the Hope Public Schools after the close of the application period April 14 will be allowed to submit an application.\r\n
