HOPE – The instrumental music program of the Hope Public Schools will present its annual Hope Bands Spring Concert tonight at 7 p.m. at Hempstead Hall on the University of Arkansas-Hope campus.

Bands Director Chris Davis said students from programs on all HPS campuses will perform, as well as percussion ensembles and the Hope High School Jazz Band.

“Preconcert performance will be presented by the HHS Jazz Band, and we invite the community to arrive at 6:30 p.m. to listen,” Davis said.

Percussion performances will include the Beryl Henry Elementary School Mix, Hope Academy of Public Service Mix, and Yerger Middle School, he said.

The remainder of the program will begin with six pieces by the HPS Beginning Band, including Hot Cross Buns, Bile Them Cabbage Down, First Chorale, Mexican Jumping Beans, Eagle Summit March and La Bamba.

The HAPS/Yerger Middle School Concert Band will perform Renaissance Fair and The Tempest, and the HAPS Symphonic Band will perform Atlantis, The Rowan Tree and Portrait of a Clown.

The evening will be rounded out with the performance by the Hope High School Symphonic Band of Sketches of Canada, Here Take This Lovely Flower and a joint performance by the HAPS, Yerger and HHS bands of (not) Alone.

Admission is free.

“We want to thank our administrators, parents and community for all of your support,” Davis said. “We appreciate you and invite you to come support your students.”
