Members of Project Prevent met today for a Virtual Conference. Project Prevent consists of local chapters across the state that choose to live their lives free from tobacco and nicotine, and encourage others to do the same! The Project Prevent Youth Coalition is dedicated to preventing the use of any tobacco products amoung youth. These local chapters exist all over Arkansas in different youth groups such as schools, churches and after school programs. The members of the this team will work collaboratively with their advisor, Mrs. Rowe on chapter activities that are related to the mission of the coalition and to help coordinate the projects. These members are eager and excited to begin having meetings and providing action-oriented activies. During the conference, students learned the importance of being a leader , teamwork and showing respect to others through lots of hands on activities. Guest speakers talked about how the tobacco industry targets and harms their peers, mental health awareness and how nicotine effects depression in our society.
