Hope Public Schools will be CLOSED on April 8, 2024, due to the total solar eclipse. The eclipse will provide a complete blackout of the sun on April 8 from approximately 1:48 pm to 1:50 pm, and partially-blocked sun before and after.

Hempstead county is expected to receive an incredible amount of visitors to the area for the occasion. In order to mitigate potential safety issues with transporting students, the district has opted to closed campuses for the day.

Parents and students are encouraged to take part in the festivities of the day! Precautions should be taken so that no bodily harm is done during the eclipse. This includes wearing specialized glasses for viewing, taking care not to look directly at the eclipse (especially without the specialized eyewear), and being careful to watch for increased traffic before and after the event.
