\r\nHOPE – The Hope High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps unit recognized Hope Airman Alison Jones as its first female Bobcat Honorary Team Captain during pregame ceremonies at the HHS homecoming football game.\r\n
\r\nAirman Jones served for four years as an Operations Intelligence Journeyman and Information Management Work Group Manager in postings at Goodfellow, Keesler and Eielson Air Force bases, HHS AFJROTC senior aerospace science instructor Lt. Col. (Ret.) Mark Hart said.\r\n
\r\nHe said Airman Jones represents the growing presence of females in military service, which the HHS cadet unit wanted to recognize.\r\n
\r\n“Ms. Jones is also the mother of Cadet Gianna Knight,” Hart said. “We are proud of her service and thank her for being an example of leadership while mentoring our women, cadets and the community.”\r\n
\r\nHart also thanked the 189th Airlift Wing, Arkansas National Guard Chief’s Group for its continuing support of the HHS cadet program and its Bobcat Honorary Team Captain project.\r\n
\r\nThe HHS Honorary Sports Captain program is intended to promote recognition of local military service veterans at all Hope High School home sporting events.\r\n
\r\nPrevious honorees have included U.S. Army Sergeant First Class (Ret.) James R. Jones, of Hope, and U.S. Marine Corps First Sergeant (Ret.) Leon Prince, of Hope.\r\n
\r\nThe HHS AFJROTC is supported through sponsorships of each Honorary Sports Captain, including monetary donations, or products and services needed by the cadet unit for community service events, Hart said.\r\n
\r\nHonorees may be nominated by anyone in the community, and are chosen from the nominee pool by the cadet unit, he said.
