HOPE – The Hope Public Schools summer nutrition program will wind down early this year at the Yerger Middle School campus, Deanna Gilbert, Hope Public Schools food services director, said Wednesday.

“We are not having enough to keep the kitchen open,” Gilbert said. “Garland will continue to be open as long as I have enough to keep it open.”

The program will end at YMS on Friday, she said.

Meals served at all remaining HPS campuses through the summer nutrition program will continue through the end of summer school July 15. Summer nutrition program meals served at each campus are free of charge, according to Gilbert.

Serving for the remaining summer nutrition program is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each week day. All students served must be under age 18, Gilbert said.

A Hope Public Schools bus provided for summer nutrition program students to participate in the Hempstead County Library Summer Reading Program will run July 12-13.

The bus will leave the ABC Preschool campus at 10:45 a.m. to arrive at the library at 11 a.m.; and will return to ABC Preschool at 11:45 a.m.

Students will be supervised by an adult on the bus.

Additional summer nutrition information is available from Gilbert’s office at 870-777-3231.
