Hope Public Schools is accepting petitions from qualified individuals interested in being considered for appointment to the Zone 2 seat on the Hope Public Schools Board of Education.
The vacancy follows the resignation of Board Member Bubba Powers, effective August 1, 2026.
Individuals interested in being considered for appointment must:
Be registered voters who reside within both the Hope School District and School Board Zone 2;
Complete the online form below;
Submit a petition stating the candidate’s intention to be considered for appointment;
Obtain signatures on the petition with at least 20 qualified electors who reside within Zone 2 and must be submitted
at least ten (10) days before the date the meeting to fill the vacancy is held (September 4th).
Both the online form and the completed petition must be received by September 4th at 11:59 pm.
Completion of this form without submission of a timely, valid, and sufficient petition will not qualify an individual for consideration.
Eligible applicants will be considered during the Hope Public Schools Board of Education meeting scheduled for September 15th at 5:30 pm at the Hope Public Schools Administration Building, 601 West Sixth Street, Hope, Arkansas.
Each eligible applicant will be provided at least five minutes to address the Board during the meeting. The appointment will be made by majority vote in open session
The selected individual will serve the remainder of the unexpired Zone 2 term.
