Ten students from Hope Public Schools exhibited prize-winning animals during the Hempstead County Fair, including Harlie Lockhart, Grand Champion Shorthorn Heifer; Brianna Cole, Best of Breed Buck-Lionhead; Lane Lockhart, Grand Champion Hereford Bull; Jaci Johnson, Best of Breed Buck-Holland Lop; Sydney Parish, Grand Champion Chi Heifer; Ava McWilliams, Best of Breed Doe-English Spot; Peyton Parker, First Place Commercial Heifer; Sarah Ward, First Place Doe-Mini Rex; DeTravonta Horton, Second Place Commercial Heifer; and, Jordan Parish, First Place Doe-Lionhead. Congratulations to these students and to all HPS students who exhibited livestock.

The 2019 Class of the Hope Public Schools Educator Hall of Fame will be inducted in ceremonies Sept. 20 at Hammons Stadium prior to the Hope-Prescott football game. The six honorees, Mrs. Edith Brown, Ms. Beryl Henry, James H. Jones, Mrs. Ruth Flowers Love, George Straughter and Mrs. Alice Straughter will be honored with a public reception from 9:30-11 a.m., Sept. 20, at Hope High School. Induction ceremonies are to take place that evening prior to the Hope-Prescott football game at Hammons Stadium.

The Hope Public Schools, in association with Farmer’s Bank and Trust, has launched the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in Hempstead County. The initiative provides free books to children aged newborn through five years who enroll through the Hope Public Schools. Contact HPS administration at 777-2251 for additional information.

Season tickets for 2019 Hope Bobcat Football are on sale at Hope High School. Season tickets may be reserved by calling Co-Athletic Director Susan Powers at 870-331-0058 during regular business hours. The home opener for the Bobcats, against Prescott, is Sept. 20, and Homecoming is Sept. 27 against DeQueen.

HHS AFJROTC will sponsor a 911 Remembrance Ceremony, Wed., Sept. 11, 8:30 a.m., at the main flag pole on HHS campus.
