HPSD retirements recognized

Retirements from the Hope Public School District were recognized as classes came to a close for the year on May 25. Hope High School teachers Gloria Merrick and Joyce Thrasher retired; Merrick after 42 years in Hope of a total 44 years, and Thrasher after 15 years. Clinton Primary School teacher Saranda Kennedy retired after 20 years in Hope and 40 years in teaching. ABC Preschool teacher Jennie Turner retired with 26 years of service. Yerger Middle School paraprofessional Betty Turner retired after 44 years of service. Custodial staff retirements included James Carrigan, 12 years; Bobby Ray Harris, 24 years; and Ola Mae Davis, 21 years. Food services and other retirements included Nevada Clark, 34 years; Karan Head, 21 years; Armenda Ross, 13 years; Lourie Jean Smith, 28 years; Jeanette Pace, 14 years; and, Jo Nell Ward, 23 years. – Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools
