HOPE FORWARD. CHILDREN FIRST!

WARM โ€ข SAFE โ€ข DRY

Thatโ€™s the simple focus behind Hope Public Schoolsโ€™ 2026 millage proposal โ€” keeping our children learning in school buildings that are safe, stable, and dependable.

Hope Public Schools has announced plans to seek voter approval for a millage increase to address critical facility needs across the district. This proposal is student-centered and designed to prevent learning disruptions caused by building failures, emergency repairs, and aging systems that are nearing or beyond end-of-life.

A LONG-OVERDUE INVESTMENT

Hope Public Schools has not had a millage increase in more than 40 years โ€” going back to at least 1985 โ€” and our current millage rate ranks 207th out of 235 Arkansas school districts.

THREE PRIORITIES

PRIORITY 1: SAFETY & SECURITY

Secure entrances and vestibules, improved traffic flow and drop-off areas, and districtwide HVAC and air-quality improvements.

PRIORITY 2: RENOVATIONS & MODERNIZATION

Updated student restrooms, classrooms, and learning spaces โ€” improving the environments students and staff rely on every day.

PRIORITY 3: COMPETITIVE & FUTURE-READY

Strengthening opportunities for college and career readiness through expanded programs like the Collegiate Academy, skilled trades pathways, STEM investments, and student wellness improvements.

WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF IT DOESNโ€™T PASSโ€ฆ

Without approval, Hope Public Schools will continue operating with increasingly unreliable systems. HVAC failures are not a matter of IF, but WHEN, and emergency repairs can divert resources away from classrooms. The district also risks losing access to approximately $2.4 million in facilities partnership funding.

READY TO MOVE FORWARD

If approved, the district is prepared to begin work quickly โ€” with some projects able to start as early as spring break.

Hope Public Schools Announces Millage Election to Address Critical Facility Needs and Protect Students Hope, Arkansas โ€” Hope Public Schools has announced plans to seek voter approval for a millage increase in an upcoming election to address critical facility needs across the district. At its core, this proposal is about one essential responsibility: protecting students by ensuring they learn in warm, safe, and dry school buildingsโ€”not classrooms disrupted by system failures or emergency repairs. Many district facilities are operating with aging systems that are nearing or beyond their expected lifespan. Deferred maintenance is no longer sustainable, and the district faces an urgent need to act before small issues become major disruptions to student learning. Focused Priorities Centered on Student Safety and Learning While the plan includes long-term improvements, the primary focus is on the districtโ€™s most immediate needs: Priority 1: Safety & Security Projects include secure entrances and security vestibules, improved traffic flow and drop-off areas, and districtwide HVAC and air-quality improvements. These upgrades directly impact student health, daily safety, and the continuity of instruction. Priority 2: Renovations & Modernization This priority focuses on renovating student restrooms, updating classrooms and learning spaces, and modernizing facilities that students and staff use every day. These improvements are critical to maintaining environments where students can focus, feel comfortable, and succeed academically. While future-ready projects remain part of the long-term vision, the districtโ€™s immediate emphasis is stabilizing and protecting core learning environments. Who This Investment Serves The primary focus of this proposal is students โ€” the children of Hope. Safe buildings, dependable climate control, and functional learning spaces are foundational to attendance, concentration, and overall student success. The proposal also supports teachers and staff, ensuring they can work in environments that allow them to serve students effectively, and it benefits the community as a whole by preserving public assets, strengthening local schools, and protecting long-term property values. Consequences of Inaction If the millage is not approved, Hope Public Schools will be forced to continue operating with systems that are increasingly unreliable. HVAC failures are not a matter of if, but when, and emergency repairs often divert resources away from classrooms and student services. Additionally, without approval, the district risks losing access to approximately $2.4 million in facilities partnership funding, dollars that could significantly offset local costs but are contingent on meeting funding and readiness requirements. Across Arkansas, districts facing similar conditions have had to delay safety upgrades, redirect instructional funds to emergency repairs, or reduce programming when infrastructure fails. Hope Public Schools is working to avoid those outcomes by planning ahead rather than reacting to crises. Ready to Move Forward Immediately If approved, the district is prepared to act quickly. Planning and prioritization work is already underway, allowing projects to begin as early as spring break, with some work starting within weeks โ€” or even days โ€” following approval. โ€œThis proposal reflects our care for students and our responsibility to the community,โ€ district leaders said. โ€œWe are ready to move forward and address these needs the moment voters give approval.โ€ Election Information Early Voting: Monday, February 16 โ€“ Monday, March 2, 2026 Election Day: Tuesday, March 3, 2026 Additional information, including FAQs and project details, will be shared through Hope Public Schoolsโ€™ official communication channels.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Stuff the Bus Food Drive Update

Thank you for the incredible community support for our Stuff the Bus Food Drive. Because of your generosity, we were able to provide essential food boxes to more than 125 Hope Public Schools families this holiday season.

Due to inclement weather, the districtโ€™s planned distribution event has been canceled. However, all donated food has been delivered to Hope In Action, where it will continue to be distributed directly to families in need throughout our community.

We are deeply grateful to our staff, students, families, volunteers, and community partners who gave their time, resources, and support to make this effort possible. Every donation and every helping hand matters, and we are confident these contributions will reach the families who need them most.

This effort is a powerful reminder of what can happen when our community comes together. Hope Public Schools is proud to support Hope families and stand alongside our partners โ€” not just during the holidays, but all year long.
