Students time their run

Magnet Students Become Superheroes of Measurement!

Magnet teacher Riley Robbins and Magnet Para Ms. Smith turned learning into a superhero adventure with an exciting Project-Based Learning (PBL) activity focused on measurement, time, and distance!

Students were divided into superhero teams, with each group taking on the identity of a favorite superhero, including Superman, Hulk, The Flash, and Catwoman. With their superhero identities in place, students were ready to tackle a series of challenges designed to put their math and measurement skills to work.

The young superheroes measured how high they could jump using a tape measure and practiced determining how quickly they could run. Students tested their speed while running both forward and backward, recording and comparing their times and distances.

Throughout the activity, students gained hands-on experience using a tape measure, measuring distance, and using time to determine speed. More importantly, they learned that math is not just something found in a textbook—it is a tool they can use to explore, investigate, and solve real-world problems.

This engaging PBL experience combined movement, teamwork, problem-solving, math, and creativity while allowing students to learn in a fun and memorable way. Every superhero team had a mission, and every student had an opportunity to shine!

A huge “Superhero Success!” goes to Ms. Robbins, Ms. Smith, and all of the students for making learning active, exciting, and meaningful.
