CPS third grade classes incubate eggs

Hatchery Project

\r\n

Third grade classrooms at Clinton Primary School became mini-chicken hatcheries recently when the Hempstead County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee provided eight eggs and a hatching incubator for each class. HCFB representative Doreen Antley discussed the hatching process with each class as she and Hope Public Schools Child Nutrition Director Deanna Gilbert filled and activated the incubators. Antley said the hatch-out process requires 18-21 days generally. The eggs for the project were lain by hens hatched from the same program in third grade classes at CPS last year, Antley said. – Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools\r\n
