Members of the Hope FFA Show team, Hempstead County 4-H and FFA kids from neighboring schools hosted a community coffee at the hub this morning to raise awareness for the Hempstead County Fair and Livestock show this week. Students will be showing their animals Thursday night starting at 5 p.m. and will be at the premium sale Friday for lunch. We hope to see community members coming out to support our students who have worked all year on their livestock projects. Photo submitted by Christina Smith.

Tuesday, we held our first Novice Teacher Training! We had a great time with presentations from Dr. Crossley, Vicki Jewell from SWAEC, and Kristi Brown. We are looking forward to meeting each month to stay connected!! Thanks to Kristi for providing these photos!

Reminders are being sent out by the campus nurses concerning students who are not up to date with their immunizations. IMMUNIZATION CLARIFICATION! A recent notification letter was mailed out to parents with the incorrect immunization deadline. The deadline should read September 8, 2022. The Back to School BASH committee met on Wednesday to finalize plans for the event happening on August 25. Streets will be blocked off for the block party. The event will take place on Main and 2nd Streets from The Hub to the old Fosters building on 2nd and from Hebrews Coffee to Chamber offices on Main. Plans include free food, bouncy houses, temporary tattoo booth, music, $3000 in gift card prize drawings and more!

Dr. Crossley presented to the Kiwanis International luncheon on Tuesday. Hope Schools is fully staffed except for two positions. Plans are in the works to raise $5 million for student scholarships over the next two years. He stressed the need for community volunteers as tutors, reading helpers, and volunteer athletics coaches. District employees Misti Flowers, Jeff Madlock, and David Henderson also attended as guests. Madlock spoke briefly on technology updates in the district.

The regularly scheduled HPS School Board meeting for Monday, June 20, 2022 at 5:30 pm has been reschedule to Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 3:00 pm in the Board Room of the HPS School District Administration Building.

Clinton Primary, Beryl Henry Elementary and the Hope Academy of Public Service WILL NOT have class virtually or face-to-face tomorrow. School will resume IN PERSON for all campuses on Monday, February 7, 2022. Stay safe as we put student safety first.

Beryl Henry Elementary, Yerger Middle School, and Hope High School will hold classes virtually tomorrow. They have remaining Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) days. Clinton Primary and the Hope Academy of Public Service WILL NOT have classes tomorrow. Due to no fault of their own, these campuses have used all of their allotted 10 Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) Days due to COVID cases. After reviewing weather conditions and working with the Office of Emergency Management, we will update you tomorrow afternoon regarding Friday’s school schedule. This decision was made with an abundance of caution. We consulted multiple outlets and feel this is the safest and most appropriate decision at this time.
