Bobcat Calendar, Sept. 23-27

Sept. 24 – Hope Public Schools Parent Ambassadors meet at 6 p.m., Hope High School cafeteria.

Sept. 27 – Hispanic Heritage Month reception featuring Mexican Consul Rodolfo Quilantan-Arenas; Beryl Henry Elementary School cafeteria; 9:30-10:30 a.m.; public is invited.

Sept. 26, 27 – Hope Bobcat Football, 8th grade vs. DeQueen, Thursday, 5:30 p.m., away; Varsity vs. DeQueen, Friday, 7 p.m., Hammons Stadium.


Homecoming 2019 will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 27, at Hope High School with the coronation of the 2019 Homecoming Queen Jones Field House on the HHS campus. The queen and court will be presented Friday night at Hammons Stadium to highlight the Hope-DeQueen football game. Homecoming maids for 2019 include Gracie Gilbert, Jenny Navarrete, Audrianna Collins, Trinity Rogers, Kathy Rogel, Jennifer Balbuena, Britney Alvardo-Frayre, Danielle Short, Kaitlynn Hooker, Addison Herron, and Daisy Aguilar.

Students in the EAST program at Hope Academy of Public Service are collecting canned meats to benefit Hope In Action. Canned food donations should be brought to the HAPS campus, 601 West Sixth St., during the school day. Donations will be accepted through Oct. 10. Hope High School will include Bobcat Days in the academic schedule for 2019-2020. The 30-minute all-purpose period will feature academic priorities across all classes during the period each Wednesday and Thursday. Priority subjects for Sept. 25-26 are math and science. Teachers may introduce subject matter enrichment or remediation in non-traditional ways such as brainstorming sessions, internet-based content, and other ways dealing with concepts in the priority subjects.

Campus food and needs pantries are now open to provide snacks and after-school needs for Hope Public Schools students on an as needed basis. Donations of recommended food and needs items will be accepted on each campus of the Hope Public School District. Contact campus offices for more information.

Community volunteer readers are needed to read to classes at Clinton Primary School each Friday through the school year. Interested individuals should contact Ken McLemore, HPS Communications Director, at ken.mclemore@hpsdistrict.org online to sign-up.
