“The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national organization of students engaged in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). TSA chapter members work on competitive events, learn and apply leadership skills, and may attend conferences at the state, regional, and national levels.” From: https://tsaweb.org/about/about-tsa/story

TSA students begin preparing for these competitions in the fall. The competitions revolve around practical issues encountered in the real world, such as the discourse on Social Media or Artificial Intelligence, as well as essays exploring the advantages and disadvantages of Virtual Reality (VR). Other events deal with the students engineering buildings, robots, and automation devices. The students skillfully infuse creativity into their endeavors by crafting children's stories, fashion designs, and websites. All the competitions focus on the use of technology in career fields.

In the academic year 2022-23, students were given the opportunity to join TSA. During their inaugural year of competition, they gained insight into the nature of the events and the standards to be met. In my capacity as an advisor, I acquired valuable knowledge about competitive activities.

On the 12th of March, 2024, a total of 6 students representing our TSA organization participated in a diverse range of competitions, including Technology Problem Solving, Essays on Technology, Prepared Presentation, and Fashion Design and Technology.

Tina Campbell proudly announces that the Fashion Design in Technology team, Jer’Miah Nolen (documentation) and Ivy Crisp (designer), won 2nd place and have been invited to compete at the TSA National Conference, June 26-30 in Orlando, FL. The trip costs will include conference registration, hotel, meals, and airfare. If you would like to donate, you can call the high school (870) 777-3451 or email me at tina.campbell@hpsdistrict.org.
