Superintendent Bobby Hart said the celebration is intended to recognize the value of teachers and the teaching profession.\r\n

\r\n

“Teaching is the most valuable profession in the world,” Hart said. “We teach future lawyers, doctors, inventors, mechanics… you name it, a teacher played a part in their lives.”\r\n

\r\n

He said the HPS will host a special luncheon on each campus in the district during the celebration week.\r\n

Hope High School teachers will be feted on Monday at 11 a.m., and Yerger Middle School teachers recognized on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Recognition shifts to Beryl Henry Elementary School on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Hope Academy of Public Service and the ABC Preschool teachers at the historic Garland campus on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. Teachers at Clinton Primary School will be hosted at 11 a.m. on Friday.\r\n

\r\n

“HPS wants to sincerely say ‘thank you’ to all of our teachers,” Hart said. “Thank you for shaping lives and influencing futures.”\r\n

McDonalds of Hope will join in the celebration next week by providing any school teacher and school staff member a free drink of their choice all day on May 2. School identification is required to participate, and the offer is limited to one choice of soft drink, tea, McCafe, Slushie or other drink.\r\n
