HOPE – Letters of interest to fill the pending Zone 3 Hope Public Schools Board of Education vacancy must be submitted by Friday.
A letter of nomination from any registered voter in Hope Public Schools Zone 3 seeking to fill the vacancy announced from the retirement of Zone 3 Representative Margaret Moss will be accepted in the office of HPS Superintendent Dr. Bobby Hart at 117 E. Second St., Hope, Ar., 71801, until noon Friday.
Moss will formally retire from the board at the May 17 meeting. She declined to seek re-election this year and no candidates filed for the position prior to the regular filing deadline.
Under Arkansas school law, the board must fill a vacancy within 30 days of the creation of a vacancy. Hart said the vacancy in Zone 3 will not officially occur until after the close of early/absentee voting by which the school election is conducted this year.
