HHS clinic head, new faculty, staff named

HOPE – The new director of the forthcoming Hope High School Health Center has an extensive medical services and health care background which she will bring to the operation of the first-ever on-campus health clinic for Hope Public Schools students and faculty.\r\n

\r\n

Gretchen Carlton has been a Registered Nurse for 25 years.\r\n

\r\n

“I have a bachelor of science in healthcare administration,” Carlton said. “The past five years, I have taught the health science technical classes on campus.”\r\n

\r\n

That curriculum included Introduction to Medical Professions, Medical Procedures, Medical Technology, and Expanded Medical Procedures, which is the type of foundation the district sought in a director for the new health center.\r\n

\r\n

“I will be responsible for the overall operations of the School Based Health Center,” Carlton said. “Currently, I have been working on establishing policies and protocols and collaborating with planned providers regarding services they want to offer; supplies that will be needed; planned layout of the renovated clinic, etc.”\r\n

\r\n

The new clinic will be housed in the former consumer and family sciences “cottage” on the HHS campus, which will undergo extensive renovations through the first $150,000 of a half-million- dollar state grant.\r\n

\r\n

Renovations will provide for a complete remodel of the interior of the building to accommodate a reception area, waiting area, up to five exam rooms, restrooms, offices, laboratory, secured storage, break room, and conference room.\r\n

\r\n

Carlton’s shift in responsibilities represents a major change for the HHS campus.\r\n

\r\n

“Once the clinic is up and running, I will oversee daily activities, collect and track data for the state-mandated reports, and see that grant requirements are being met,” she said.\r\n

\r\n
