Everything presented to the School Board was approved. These include:

  • Regarding stadium structural issues, HPS is getting quotes to repair both visitor and home stands. Goal is to have repairs done before football season starts.
  • HPS joined a grant cohort to address salaries through recruitment and retention. Teachers could see $3000-$4000 bonus over next 2-3 years. More information will be available in August. This additional money falls under incentive/bonus pay. It is only available to certified classroom teachers as per the stipulations of the grant. The district is looking into options for classified staff. It was noted that neither the Governor nor Legislature are looking into addressing classified staff wages. An update regarding the building fund includes a roll over of funds which will greatly exceed a self-set $800k goal. These funds could be used for long-term goals and building projects.
  • Purchases
    • Curricular Materials to be purchased with ARP funds and a State Math Grant.
    • STAR Academy at Yerger - The initial grant provided $900k for 80 students to participate. The district will commit $150K over three years to be able to include up to 114 students as part of the cohort, providing the program to EVERY 8th grader at Yerger. These additional funds are tied to ARP funding and do not come from district operating funds.
    • UDL Institute. CCEIS over-identification of the number of special education students. This will provide in-person training for applicable teachers and central office staff. This will provide PD for applicable mainstream teachers, and not just Special Education teachers. This will be a tiered approach to training. Ms. Wiley will lead the program. Training will take place shortly after school starts.
    • Teacher and Administrator Recruitment & Retention Plan. Encompasses CSL, Aspiring Leaders Institute, and Teacher Residency Program. This will provide opportunities for teachers to be recognized for retention and professional growth.
    • 1240 Waiver List - Class-size waiver. This ties to the residency program in partnership with SAU. An SAU teacher will be shown as the “Teacher of Record” but the person taking part in the program will be teaching the actual class at HPS. Application for waiver will be sent to the state for approval.
    • EcoEvasive - 1 year contract for spraying and treatment of facilities. By getting approval now, they can come in and spray before school starts. Paid for by ARP. This is the same company that had been providing these services previously.

  • Personnel - All personnel presented to the board at this meeting were accepted for hire.
