Mrs. Henry's Advisory class has been getting their ART on! This quarter, Students have been enjoying their "Book of the Quarter", one of which is "A Boy Called Bat" by Elana K. Arnold. This Book tells the story of a funny, heartfelt boy as he lives and adapts to his Autism Spectrum Disorder. As part of their reading, Mrs. Henry; 's class made a poster for the book to "Put the ART in STEAM" (an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). One part of the story focuses on how Bat takes in and cares for a baby skunk, so look for the skunks on the poster!

Today is National Tradesmen Day! National Tradesmen Day is celebrated on the third Friday of September each year. A tradesman, by definition, is someone who acquired their skills through apprenticeship or vocational training/education. Such people are usually in the fields of building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electricity, and other similar industries. Without them, it would be impossible to lead a good life as living standards would drop due to the lack of building or maintenance. Irwin Trade, which is a world-famous company that sells quality tools, created National Tradesmen Day in 2011 as a way to honor the people of the industry. Tradesmen rise to the challenge, day in and day out, to provide their services and skills to the people who need them the most. Thank a tradesman or tradeswoman today for all they do to keep our society running!

Ms. Gulley, Yerger's esteemed health teacher, led students through their Damath challenge this week. This challenge had students show their math skills in a competition where the winner gets to help assemble a human skeleton model for the class to use. Way to go Ms. Gulley, putting math into your Health Class to add a dash of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)!

Mr. Tony Anderson and Mrs. Philips had a joint guest speaker last week who came to speak to students about leadership. Dr. Christopher Smith spoke about the need for youth leadership in the school, as well as performed a live exercise with students to test their leadership and teamwork abilities. In this exercise, students were asked to build the tallest tower possible with marshmallows and pasta within a 10-minute timeframe. The students and staff attending all had a blast!

A lunar eclipse will be visible for people in Arkansas and Oklahoma on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024. The partial eclipse will coincide with a full moon and a supermoon, which occurs when the moon is closest to Earth. Best Time To Watch The eclipse will begin at 7:41 p.m. Central Time, but it will be difficult to notice until the Earth's shadow starts to cover the top edge of the moon at 9:13 p.m. The eclipse will peak at 9:44 p.m. There could be clouds in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, but conditions will likely be clear enough to see the eclipse. The moon will finish exiting the full shadow at 10:16 p.m. and the partial shadow at 11:47 p.m. What Is A Lunar Eclipse? A lunar eclipse is when the moon passes into the Earth's shadow. This means that relatively little of the sun's light makes it to the moon. The sunlight that does make it to the lunar surface has passed through the Earth's atmosphere. This light is at a longer, redder wavelength, making the moon appear red. "It's as if all the world's sunrises and sunsets are projected onto the moon," according to NASA. https://www.4029tv.com/article/eclipse-supermoon-midwest-arkansas-oklahoma/62225254

As the home football season continues, we want to remind everyone about student expectations. We encourage our students to show school spirit and support our team, but it’s important that they adhere to home game expectations: ⚫️ Students are not to loiter behind the bleachers. Our students are expected to remain seated in the stands during the game, except when going to the restroom or visiting the concession stand. 🔴Students cannot sit on the top three rows of the stands unless sitting with a parent. ⚪️All after school activities are schools functions therefore our students are to follow handbook expectations. Any student that does not follow expectations may be asked to leave the game and will be addressed the following school day. We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations with your child to ensure a fun and safe environment for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation! Go Bobcats!!
