After setting ambitious goals for the 2025–2026 season, our robotics team delivered in a big way—competing across Arkansas and beyond while earning multiple awards and top finishes.
In the BEST Robotics Competition in Pine Bluff, the BotCats brought home:
• 1st Place – Marketing
• 2nd Place – Engineering Notebook
• 2nd Place – Robot Performance
• 3rd Place – Exhibit & Interview
• 2nd Place Overall in the State
That performance advanced them to the BEST Southeast Regional Competition in Huntsville, Alabama, where they proudly represented Hope on a larger stage.
The momentum continued this spring at the FIRST Robotics Competition in Searcy, where the BotCats competed against top teams across the region. After qualifying rounds, their alliance fought through the bracket and finished 1st overall in the finals.
From problem-solving to teamwork, these students are gaining real-world skills that go far beyond the classroom.
This is innovation. This is collaboration. This is Bobcat Pride.

A Day of Discovery: Learning About Nature from Park Rangers🌲🌿
Recently, our students enjoyed a special visit sponsored by Magnet from park rangers Sheila Malone and Ashton Farrell, who brought an exciting lesson about nature right to our classrooms!
Students explored fascinating topics like waterfalls, valleys, tree cookies, and pine cones, learning how each plays an important role in our natural world. It was like taking a trip into the forest without leaving school! 🌄
Rangers explained how waterfalls can shape the land over time, forming valleys, and how these areas provide important habitats for plants and animals. Students were especially interested in tree cookies, where they learned how to count rings to determine a tree’s age and even discover clues about past weather conditions. 🌳
They also examined pine cones and learned how they protect seeds and help grow new trees—showing how even small parts of nature play a big role in the environment.
This hands-on experience helped students see how everything in nature is connected and inspired them to observe, explore, and appreciate the world around them.
Thank you to our park rangers and Magnet for providing such a meaningful learning experience! 💚

Students recently put their structures to the test as part of their Designing for Weather Hazards STEAM activity. To make the challenge even more exciting, AP Pam Harris added a special twist by bringing in her leaf blower to simulate powerful hurricane-force winds.
Students gathered with anticipation as the “leaf blower hurricane” blasted against their carefully built structures. When a few small pieces flew off, students gasped and laughed, but the excitement only grew as they watched to see what would happen next.
Despite the strong gusts, the main structures remained standing, showing the strength of the students’ designs and their understanding of how buildings can be constructed to withstand severe weather.
This hands-on experience helped students see how engineering, design, and problem-solving play an important role in protecting structures during hurricanes while making learning both engaging and fun.

Magnet proudly supported Mrs. Kayla Bowden’s class in an exciting STEAM activity using the Designing for Weather Hazards curriculum. This hands-on lesson gave students the opportunity to explore engineering concepts while using creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Students were challenged to design and build structures that could withstand hurricane-force winds. Before building, they spent time planning, discussing ideas, and developing strategies for their designs. Using a variety of materials, students constructed their structures and carefully considered how to make them strong and stable.
To test their designs, Mrs. Bowden used a fan and hair dryer to simulate hurricane winds. Students watched closely to see how their structures performed and discussed which designs were successful and which might need improvement. This testing phase encouraged critical thinking about design, structure, and the forces of nature.
This activity was both engaging and educational, showing how Magnet’s STEAM initiative can be integrated into everyday classroom learning. Through hands-on exploration, students experienced the power of “learning by doing” while applying science, engineering, and creative thinking to solve a real-world problem.
