A lunar eclipse will be visible for people in Arkansas and Oklahoma on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024. The partial eclipse will coincide with a full moon and a supermoon, which occurs when the moon is closest to Earth. Best Time To Watch The eclipse will begin at 7:41 p.m. Central Time, but it will be difficult to notice until the Earth's shadow starts to cover the top edge of the moon at 9:13 p.m. The eclipse will peak at 9:44 p.m. There could be clouds in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, but conditions will likely be clear enough to see the eclipse. The moon will finish exiting the full shadow at 10:16 p.m. and the partial shadow at 11:47 p.m. What Is A Lunar Eclipse? A lunar eclipse is when the moon passes into the Earth's shadow. This means that relatively little of the sun's light makes it to the moon. The sunlight that does make it to the lunar surface has passed through the Earth's atmosphere. This light is at a longer, redder wavelength, making the moon appear red. "It's as if all the world's sunrises and sunsets are projected onto the moon," according to NASA. https://www.4029tv.com/article/eclipse-supermoon-midwest-arkansas-oklahoma/62225254

As the home football season continues, we want to remind everyone about student expectations. We encourage our students to show school spirit and support our team, but it’s important that they adhere to home game expectations: ⚫️ Students are not to loiter behind the bleachers. Our students are expected to remain seated in the stands during the game, except when going to the restroom or visiting the concession stand. 🔴Students cannot sit on the top three rows of the stands unless sitting with a parent. ⚪️All after school activities are schools functions therefore our students are to follow handbook expectations. Any student that does not follow expectations may be asked to leave the game and will be addressed the following school day. We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations with your child to ensure a fun and safe environment for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation! Go Bobcats!!

Hope Public Schools is excited to begin a new partnership with Arkansas Rehabilitation Services to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services to a select group of students at Hope High School. To take advantage of this opportunity, students must be in grades 10-12 and identified as a student with special needs or a 504 student. The Work-Based Learning Opportunities Leading to Future Employment (WOLF) will allow students to earn minimum wage while receiving hands-on learning opportunities and skills based training. Students will experience real-world employment tasks and situational learning opportunities. Our WOLF program will be held in conjunction with our already established Bobcats that Work Program. Mr. John Byers from Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will be at Hope High School on September 13, 2024 and September 17, 2024 from 9:00-2:00 to assist parents with the application process and to answer any questions regarding current and future benefits. Please sign the attached document indicating your level of interest in this program. Please respond by September 20, 2024. Thank you.

Let's talk about EAST! EAST is an amazing opportunity for your child (at every Hope Public Schools campus) to learn how to solve problems in our school and community using technology and community resources! When they are not working on projects (solving problems), they are learning new technology, helping their peers, meeting with community partners, or learning basic skills such as sending an email. We are looking forward to seeing the amazing things students (3rd grade through 12th) are doing in Hope, AR!

Hope Public Schools' Transportation Department will be in full swing beginning August 12, 2024. We would like our Community to please be aware of our students as they wait at the bus stops to load and unload their buses. "IF YOU SEE FLASHING, NO PASSING!" Arkansas law prohibits drivers from passing a stopped school bus that is picking up or dropping off passengers. This law is known as Isaac's Law, named after an elementary school student who was killed when a driver illegally passed his bus. Drivers who violate the law can face a fine of up to $2,500, up to 90 days in jail, and a driver's license suspension of up to one year. Motorists should always follow the law and drive carefully - especially when driving in school zones and around school buses! Never pass a school bus on the right-hand side, where children are loading and unloading.

Hope School District is excited to announce the use of Here Comes the Bus (HCTB). HCTB is a mobile app and website that delivers real-time school bus arrival and departure notifications to parents via mobile push and email notifications. Notifications are sent when the bus is nearby, practically eliminating the wait times at the bus stop. Students are assigned to the bus by the physical address that is on file with the attending campus. One thing to note is that the program will only track ONE ADDRESS. Many have more than one address that your student is picked up from or delivered to. If you want to make a permanent change to the address on file, please do this during the open house, August 8th. Instructions to sign up for HCTB are provided on the flyers. There will be a number of updates to make once school starts. Please give the Transportation Department a few weeks to assign students to their correct buses.
