Hope Public Schools

Hope Public Schools is excited to begin a new partnership with Arkansas Rehabilitation Services to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services to a select group of students at Hope High School. To take advantage of this opportunity, students must be in grades 10-12 and identified as a student with special needs or a 504 student. The Work-Based Learning Opportunities Leading to Future Employment (WOLF) will allow students to earn minimum wage while receiving hands-on learning opportunities and skills based training. Students will experience real-world employment tasks and situational learning opportunities. Our WOLF program will be held in conjunction with our already established Bobcats that Work Program. Mr. John Byers from Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will be at Hope High School on September 13, 2024 and September 17, 2024 from 9:00-2:00 to assist parents with the application process and to answer any questions regarding current and future benefits. The Lonoke Baptist Church, led by Pastor Alvin Hunter, made a very generous donation of food and clothing to the CPS Food Pantry & Clothing Closet. The Bobcats suffered a tough loss against Nashville after the weather delay. The boys showed heart, though! Here is a rundown of the stats from the game: Aiden Collums-Dean have 5 completions on 8 passes for 46 yards passing. He had 1 interception and 1 Fumble. Amarii Scott took 10 carries for 28 yards. He also had 4 tackles and had 1 Fumble Recovery for a 65 yard touchdown. Noah Cheatham had 2 catches for 35 yards, 4 tackles and an interception. Land Westmoreland had 3 tackles with 1 Forced Fumble and Zyun Brown had 7 tackles on the day. The Bobcats are home again this week against Ashdown. Game starts at 7:30pm in Hammons Stadium. BOBCATS TENNIS RESULTS: Girls Singles swept Fountain Lake as Monica Bobo won 8-0, Lydia Bobo won 8-5, and Madison Phillips won 8-6. The Girls Doubles also dominated as Kennedy Phillips and Madison Phillips won 8-3, Mykah Bradley and Katie-ella webster won 8-0, and Jamie Young and Grace Easterling won 8-4! The boys had mixed results. In Boys Singles, Erick Salazar lost 5-8, James Artis Lost 0-8, Riley Bramlett lost 2-8, and Davis Johnson won 8-0. During Mrs. Stevenson's Social Studies unit on archaeology at BHE, students engaged in a hands-on STEAM activity that brought the past to life. Acting as "archaeologists," the students participated in a simulated dig where they excavated buried artifacts. Using a small shovel, a spoon, they carefully unearthed the hidden artifacts from rice-filled containers, replicating real archaeological digs. They discussed their findings and analyzed the artifacts. This activity seamlessly integrated STEAM concepts like precision, scientific observation, and problem-solving. By digging for artifacts, students gained a deeper understanding of how archaeologists work and the importance of artifacts in uncovering the stories of the past. The Cross Country teams competed at OBU in the Bob Gravett Invitational. We had 13 athletes that set a PR. There was some great competition at this meet. Our Sr. Boys finished 6th out of 12 teams. The Sr. Girls finished 5th out of 11 teams. On September 4, counselors attended the ArkACRAO Articulation Workshop at Southern Arkansas University. Doni Watson, Delma Stewart, and Rachel Holt gathered information from many Arkansas colleges about their new degrees, new facilities, and upcoming opportunities for their students. In Ms. Anna's Business class at Beryl Henry Elementary, we have been working on the importance of introductions and how you only get one first impression with someone. Each student created a business card for themselves and Mr. Jones. The students applied what they learned by introducing themselves to individuals on our campus. If you see them around, test out their knowledge on a professional introduction by introducing yourself to them!

Starting TODAY, September 5, the Clinton Primary Parent Center will be open every Thursday from 4-6pm. Come by for resources, information, and more to help your child!

Denny's Place, the school garden at HAPS, is flourishing!! HAPS students Valeria Castillo, Litzy Leyva, Angelique Marrufo, Jamie Prado, and Wendy Toledano entered vegetables from the garden into the Hempstead County Fair. The students won a total of 13 ribbons: five first-place, four second-place, and three third-place. Green beans from the garden won the best-of-show ribbon. In 2024, Hope High School graduated the *MOST* high school students with Associate's Degrees in the state of Arkansas! 23 students who graduated Hope High with their high school diplomas also walked into their futures holding an Associate's Degree from the University of Arkansas-Hope. The next closest school was Texarkana with 16 grads. On August 30th Shelby Blackmon, Rachel Holt, Delma Stewart, and Doni Watson attended the annual High School Counselor Workshop at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. They were informed about financial aid, upcoming scholarships, and exciting new degrees offered at the university. After lunch, they were able to chat with some of Hope High School’s alumni.
