Students submitted art pieces for the Arkansas Peace Week Art Contest and 2 of Mayra Garcia's advisory students' pieces were selected as finalists! Their artwork, along with the other 6 finalists for the 5th grade category, will be displayed at the State Capitol from November 10th through the 16th. A winner will be selected on November 16th. We are so proud of these girls and all the students that participated! On the left 5th grader Alyssa Banks and on the right is 5th grader Angelina Yang. Also pictured are submissions from HAPS 5th Grade students. Out of all these only 5 were selected to participate. (We could only enter 5 per grade for each school). ##GoBobcats #ALLIN #HopeForTheFuture

Students in Mrs. Carr's 3rd Grade Literacy class peer-reviewed their narrative writing. Students were able to provide feedback to each other on the introduction portion of their essays. By doing so, students were given the chance to learn from each other and practice communication skills. It was really rewarding to hear them provide each other with positive and helpful feedback and reflect on their own errors. #GoBobcats #ALLIN #HopeForTheFuture

Ms. Rainey Christopher (Future Teacher) read After The Fall by Dan Santat to the class. Afterward, the class did a Let your fears fly away activity. The students wrote their fears on paper and made paper planes to demonstrate letting their fear fly away. In Benchmark we are on Unit 6/ Stories Teach Many Lessons. Ms. Christopher told the students to never let your fears hold you back from achieving your goals. Thank you Ms. Christopher from Mrs. McClenton's class. #GoBobcats #ALLIN #HopeForTheFuture ✈️📗📚

Magnet Coordinator Allison Rowe and Mr. Herron, HAPS Digital Broadcasting Magnet teacher, recently took students on an exciting educational visit to Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. The students had the opportunity to tour the university's broadcasting studio, where they learned about the advanced equipment, broadcasting software, and how to organize a professional broadcast. During the visit, they engaged with college students in the broadcasting program and even had the chance to film HAPS' daily newscast for the following day, gaining hands-on experience in a real-world studio environment. The visit was highly informative, and we are incredibly grateful to Henderson State University for sharing their time and insights with us. The students behaved exceptionally well, answering specific technology-related questions and actively participating in discussions. Thanks to Mr. Herron’s preparation, they are more than ready for their “jobs” on the HAPS campus after demonstrating both skill and professionalism throughout the tour.

On Wednesday, students in Jesse Lewis' class used finger flashlights to read their CVCe (Magic e) passages in the dark. Students love the novelty of reading in the dark with flashlights. In addition it is amazing how focused they are while reading quietly. This allows her and her para a chance to walk the room and listen as they read and assist them sounding out words as needed. #GoBobcats #ALLIN #HopeForTheFuture 🔦📗🎒
